Osteoporosis is one of the most frequent diseases of aging people. The consequences of osteoporosis are often serious, interfering with the quality of life and even leading to a need for nursing care.
Osteoporosis is today a worldwide health problem. The World Health Organisation (WHO) has ranked osteoporosis as one of the ten most serious widespread diseases. Patients with osteoporosis have unstable bones, which can lead to fractures, in particular of the vertebral body, the thoracic and lumbar spines, and around the neck of the femur. In all around 10% of the population is affected.
