Breast MRI

Magnetic resonance imaging of the (female) breast is a very accurate and highly sensitive method of early detection of cancer.

Compulsory health insurance funds pay for breast MRI in the case of the following indications:

- Aftertreatment of known breast cancer.

- Aftertreatment after breast-conserving therapy (BCT) in the case of a breast carcinoma.

- To diagnose a CUP syndrome (axillary lymph node metastases without a definite primary tumour).

- Before an operation in the case of histologically detected invasive lobular breast carcinoma.

For other cases we naturally offer breast MRI as a medical service not covered by health plans and paid for by the patient. We will gladly inform you of the costs involved.

Privately insured patients are not subject to any restrictions with respect to their health insurance funds bearing the costs for breast MRI.
